The Old School Rooms

Friday, September 25th, 2009

We love our home here at The Old School Rooms and are thrilled to say that it has recently been nominated for two awards! The awards are ‘Best Interior’ at the Roses and ‘Architecture, Urban and Interior Design’ at the Nottingham Creative Business awards.  Watch this space to see how we get on. In the meantime, why not have a look around…

Our building began life as a school in 1870. Since then, it’s been the village cinema, the church hall, a safe-place for war evacuees and now it’s home to us, a 25 strong design team. As we searched for new premises, the priority was to be able to get the whole team under one roof in an open workspace. We wanted the design of the interior to be sensory, to stimulate creative thinking, retain the character of the building and give it a new lease of life with a design that reflects our personality – and that’s just what we’ve done.

We were all glued to the TV last night for the launch of the BBC’s new reality show ‘Design for life’. The programme follows 12 British product design hopefuls battle it out for a placement at Philippe Starck’s agency in Paris. Design for life will be on BBC 2 on Monday nights for the next 6 weeks.
